ADVICE TO FILMMAKERS

London and the UK has a long, illustrious history of comedy from The Canterbury Tales to The Mighty Boosh. It is also a global centre for production companies and talent agencies that are looking for new talent to provide comedy content for the ever expanding market of online entertainment that includes companies such as Netflix and Amazon.

Representatives from production companies and talent agencies will be attending our festival to check out any upcoming talented film makers and will be kept regularly informed on new comedy talent. It’s in their interest as much as the filmmaker’s to find new quality comedy and nothing is more convincing to an industry person than to see a cinema full of people laughing.

The films we screen are aimed to entertain our festival audiences so some important criteria we have for the films we show are :

Exciting, creative content is more important to us than slick production values. We’ll leave that to advertising agencies. With comedy, if you make them laugh, audiences won’t care if you filmed your masterpiece on your uncle the swinger’s 1980s video camera.

The organisers of the festival have been involved in live comedy promotion in the UK, Europe and Asia for over fifteen years and have a good knowledge of how the industry works and have now decided to turn their energy towards the ever increasing demand for filmed comedy.

This is our first year and our base is in London, U.K. but we will be expanding to other cities in the UK and further afield and plan on making our festivals an essential calendar feature both for audiences wishing to have some great nights of laughter and for the discovery of new comedy creators.
